It is unbelievable that California voters must take time to vote on who has the right to marry. Isn’t this a little too much meddling in personal privacy? Isn’t this legalizing prejudice and hate? Just where will this type of focus end?
We can’t allow our Constitution to dictate our personal lives or legalize prejudice.

“I have decided I can no longer be a registered Republican. For the first time in my life I announced my support for a Democratic candidate for the presidency, in February of this year. This was not an endorsement of the Democratic platform, nor was it a slap in the face to the Republican Party. It was an expression of support specifically for Senator Barack Obama. I had always intended to go back to party ranks after the election and work with my many dedicated friends and colleagues to help reshape the GOP, especially in the foreign-policy arena. But I now know I will be more effective focusing on our national and international problems than I will be in trying to reinvigorate a political organization that has already consumed nearly all of its moderate “seed corn.” And now, as the party threatens to trivialize what promised to be a serious debate on our future direction, it will alienate many young people who might have come into party ranks”…read more

Bush mentions that his birthday was 4th of July weekend, however he didn’t mention it was the day Thomas Jefferson died. Wonder what Jefferson would have thought if he learned what was to happen to the Constitution again this past week.

In another incident of Bush Administration refusal to accept accountability or balance of power:
By RICHARD LARDNER
Associated Press Writer
The Army’s march to overhaul its tarnished contracting system has been slowed by an unlikely foe: the White House.
The Office of Management and Budget, President Bush’ administrative arm, has shot down a service plan to add five active-duty generals who would oversee purchasing and monitor contractor performance. The boost in brass was a key recommendation from a blue-ribbon panel that last fall criticized the Army for contracting failures that undermined the war effort in Iraq and Afghanistan, wasted U.S. tax dollars, and sparked dozens of procurement fraud investigations. more
Our tax dollars at work. Isn’t it great some folks got a $600 rebate check this year while the private contractors steal us blind and Bush supports them through actions such as cost-plus contracts? We pay nearly $5.00 per gallon for gas and George Bush gives no-bid cost-plus contracts to his friends and associates. Guess we’re neither.

Nader declared that the United States is running under a corporate fascist economic system. “We’re living in a country whose democracy is beyond the breaking point. The extent of corporate control has developed into corporate fascism,”Nader said.
