Where Do The 2008 Presidential Candidates Get Their Money?

sold.jpg Here is a wonderful site that allows you to search where the money for the 2008 Presidential Candidates originates. For instance, Rupert Murdoch (aka K. R. Murdoch) can be seen in clear support of Clinton. That is just what is listed under his name, but when you consider he owns Fox, Direct TV, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Post, among other top news media, you can have an eye opening experience searching donations made through top brass of those entities.

You can search by name or employer. Murdoch is the chairman and owner of News Corp, which is a powerful influence on the mainstream media influencing the American public today. Here’s a timeline of News Corp acquisitions. For a list of their holdings, see wikipedia. The News Corp papers are also not telling you about the current push for the Impeachment of Dick Cheney. Interesting.

For one’s own voting intelligence, it would be wise to see who backs your candidate for a clear view of the impact this can have on America in the very near future. America doesn’t need to rely on the special interests of big corporation. When you consider that the biggest contributors to the Bush campaigns were found coming from the industries of finance and real estate (deja vu current mortgage crisis), you can understand the importance this holds for America’s strength in Democracy for the future.

Check this out for George Bush’s big corporate pay back favors in his first 100 days in office. Interestingly, then as compared to now, Bush was always in favor of de-regulation of the telecommunications industry and the military.

Look here for Bill Clinton’s supporters, which appear heavy in the media and telephone utility industries.

Great, now I know who to curse everytime I open my wireless carrier bill, the Bush and Clinton administrations, and I don’t want to go there again.

I was pleased there is one candidate, Dennis Kucinich, who doesn’t appear to have the corporate interests channeling big money his way when investigating Open Secrets. This may be telling in why the media tries to label him “wacky”, or “weird”. It’s probably because Kucinich won’t budge and they know it, and they are trying their best to discredit him.

Read carefully, choose wisely.

  1. Yeah, Open Secrets is a good site. And you’re spot on about the media and Kucinich.
